“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly event, hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

I’ve come out of my Rip Van Winkle-esque sleep to share just how excited I am about S.J. Maas’s new novel, A Court of Thorns and Roses. I love her Throne of Glass series, and had so many *feels* about Heir of Fire, which was just released. There’s something magical and transporting about her writing that inspires me to want to create my own stories, and so of course when I learned that she had another book in the works, I began to salivate with anticipation. Seriously her characters, world building and plot twists are like a giant basket of Halloween candy: dangerously delicious.

Aimed at a slightly more mature demographic, ACOTAR promises to have some, ahem, sexy times, while featuring the same fantasy, creativity and fairy tale lore that Maas’s Throne of Glass series has become known for.

Here’s the blurb about A Court of Thorns and Roses (from publisher Bloomsbury):

When 19-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it … or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristen Cashore and George R.R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

I will definitely be on the hunt for an ARC of this book before it comes out May 2015! And if, like me, you can’t wait until then, check out Sarah J. Maas’s Pinterest board for A Court of Thorns and Roses.
